Restos de mar / Dieecke Gallery

Restos de mar (Remains of the Sea) is what the water gives back to the land; what has decided to return so as not to disappear; what swallows up time; what the wind, sun and currents could not defeat…what history cannot lose sight of, although it tries to disappear; what is no longer transparent; the will to survive, to leave a trace of what existed… Journeys transform people and they also transform things.

One never returns from a journey…one returns “another”, transformed in some way, full of the experience…

Exercise:
In front of the sea, form a triangle with your gaze. Face the horizon and feel how your feet sink into the sand as the sea brushes up against you. You stare at the pacific horizon and the horizon stares at you… Actually, the Pacific has always looked at you and you have never looked back, but it has always seen you…

Wave n° 1: sunny day, few clouds, flat…blue sky.
Wave n° 2: sunny day, few clouds, flat…sky still blue.
Wave n° 3: cloudy, nostalgic, betrayed…
Wave n° 4: sunny, gloomy, no horizon…
Wave n° 5: clear evening, sun hides in the background…patriotic. Wave n° 6: dark, silent, a couple of stars, no others…
Wave n° 7: remains of something, we’re all looking…
Wave n° 8: transparent country…fucking country…blue horizon… Wave n° 9: northern wind, waves, waves, can’t see the horizon. Wave n° 10: copy of Eden…landscape.
Wave n° 11: history repeats itself, short memory.
